Turkey and Lithuania will face off on Sunday for fifth place at the U20 European Championship after collecting victories in the classification round for fifth to eighth place.
Ilkan Karaman scored 19 points and Deniz Kilicli added 12 points as Turkey knocked off Croatia 78-59.
Pablo Aguilar scored 10 of his 12 points in a crucial 10-0 fourth quarter run to carry Spain to the semi-finals of the U20 European Championship with a 77-60 victory over Turkey.
Xavier Rabaseda led the way with 18 points and four steals while Pere Tomas had 14 points and nine rebounds and Mamadou Samb added 13 points and seven rebounds for Spain, who out-rebounded Turkey 43-33 including 17 offensive rebounds.
Look at Deniz Kilicli and not many people would think he looks soft in a basketball sense. The full beard, broad shoulders and about 250 pounds of mass make him one of the most physically imposing players at the U20 European Championship Men.
But talking to the 18-year-old Turkish center, one learns that besides helping Turkey attempt to win gold in Rhodes his number one goal for this summer is to get tougher.
